Daniel David De-Gale (14 March 1987 – 8 October 2008) inspired an international appeal to promote awareness of leukaemia, bone marrow transplantation and blood donation. As a child, his mother Beverley De-Gale and stepfather Orin Lewis launched the ACLT charity in 1996 to find matching donors to save Daniel’s life and the lives of sufferers all around the world. In loving memory and as a celebration of Daniel, the crème de la crème of artists have come together to show their love and appreciation of this young man’s achievements and to show support of the charity, which was set up to inspire a community to ‘do the right thing’ by registering as donors.
The charity hopes to make this event an annual date in the community’s calendar as Daniel’s parents and charity co-founders, Beverley De-Gale and Orin Lewis, go back to the venue which staged the charities first public appeal on behalf of Daniel and the ACLT’s first Bone Marrow Registration drive in April 1996.
The event promises to be a spectacular one for the charity, with the emphasis on fun, celebration and exclusive musical performances, as they aim to raise much needed funds and awareness. The ACLT recently passed the milestone of recruiting approx. 29,000 donors across the key UK Registries, which has significantly contributed to saving lives. All money raised from the event will fund the vital work of the charity and if funds are raised quickly, then the numbers of donors and lives saved could rise substantially.
